Program Contact
The Department of Periodontology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill offers a three-year postdoctoral program leading to a Certificate in Periodontology and a Master of Science degree awarded by the University of North Carolina's Graduate School. Alternatively, the Certificate in Periodontology may be coupled with several additional programs that are combined to create an individualized course of study. They include a Ph.D. in Oral & Craniofacial Biomedicine or a M.P.H. All programs will require joint acceptance into their respective units. The advanced training program in Periodontology is approved and accredited by the Council on Dental Education of the American Dental Association. The residency program's main focus is to provide each resident with significant surgical, didactic, and scientific training in all areas of periodontology and implantology. In general three residents are selected per year in late September or October to begin the program the following June-July. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible for examination and certification by the American Board of Periodontology. More information can be found at:
