 For US/ Canadian candidates, completion of a CODA-accredited dental degree (DMD/DDS) is required.

 For non-US/ Canadian graduates, supplemental requirements are:

- Educational Requirement set forth by the New York State Education Department (http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/dent/dentlic.htm); AND

- Completion of a CODA-Accredited 2-year Advanced Standing Program or 2-year AEGD program

Emergency training: BLS, PALS and ACLS

Conferences: AAPD Sedation Conferences (all senior residents), AAPD Annual Session (Presenting senior residents) and AAPD Advocacy Day (1 Junior resident)

Electives: Perinatal Clinic, LEND Fellowship, Craniofacial Nasoalveolar Molding Clinic, Teledentistry Clinic, etc.

All residents are required to take ABPD QE examination by the end of their residency.

WES Evaluation:

For all applicants who received their dental degree outside the US or Canada (even after completion of an Advanced Standing Degree or AEGD program), a WES evaluation of their dental transcripts must be submitted directly to ADEA PASS. Applicants cannot submit or upload their own WES evaluation to their application. Request WES to send the evaluation to the ADEA PASS portal. Do not send WES evaluations directly to Eastman Institute for Oral Health. We access all admissions requirements via ADEA PASS. 

ECE evaluations are not accepted.

Additional Information

To be eligible to apply for the two-year Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program you MUST have graduated from a CODA approved US or Canadian dental school (DDS or DMD) or if foreign-trained, in addition to the dental degree (e.g. BDS), candidates must have successfully completed a CODA approved two-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Training Program or a two-year Advanced Standing DMD/DDS program in the US.   

To meet the education requirements for New York State licensure, you must present evidence of completion of not less than 60 semester hours of pre-professional college-level education, including courses in general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology or zoology, and physics; and a program of professional dental education consisting of at least 4 academic years of study (DDS or DMD). 

Enrollment to the program is contingent to NYSED approval of the above educational requirements.
