The University of Tennessee Knoxville is a CODA accredited advanced specialty training experience that is 4 years in length. The program provides residents with breadth and depth of clinical training in the specialty of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Our faculty offers expertise in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery and Reconstruction, Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery, Orthognathic Surgery, TMD management and Dentoalveolar/Implant Surgery. Our department is responsible for 24/7 maxillofacial trauma call at our Level 1 Trauma center.

Program Outline (July 1 – June 30 schedule):

 

Four-Year Track

Year One

OMFS (PGY-1) | 10 months

Medicine | 2 months

 

Year Two:

OMFS (PGY-2) | 5 months

Anesthesia | 4 months

Pediatric Anesthesia | 1 month

TSICU | 2 months

 

Year Three:

OMFS (PGY-3) | 9 months

Elective Surgery | 3 months

 

Year Four:

OMFS (PGY-4) | 12 months
