Our program's primary mission is the preparation of individuals who are pursuing a career in clinical practice.  With this mission in mind, our goal is to prepare the graduate to pursue many career possibilities but with special emphasis on a clinical practice limited to orthodontics.  During the 34 months of our program, each student will be expected to contribute to the knowledge of the profession through research and the completion of a clinical or basic science research project.

Each incoming student will be assigned 65-70 comprehensive treatment patients.  Early treatment, adolescent and adult treatments are completed under the direct supervision of attending faculty using multiple treatment appliances representing contemporary clinical practices.  Each student is expected to complete 50 of the treatments initiated during the 34 months in attendance.  Emphasis is placed on preparation for ABO certification.  The department strives to provide a distribution of treatment types including orthognathic surgery, interdisciplinary treatment, and craniofacial anomalies.
