The program in pediatric dentistry is designed to offer the advanced student a balanced curriculum in both didactic and clinical areas. Particular emphasis is placed on hospital dentstry, conscious sedation, interceptive orthodontics and special patient care. The program is administered by the Department of Developmental Dentistry of the School of Dentistry and is approved and accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and the American Dental Association. Upon successful completion of all requirements, the student is awarded a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and meets the eligibility requirements for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Program Start Date and Orientation
The residency program has an official start date of July 1 and an official end date of June 30, 24 months later. As part of required program onboarding, all residents must participate in a mandatory orientation held during the final week of June prior to the July 1 start date. Orientation supports preparation for residency training and does not alter the official start or end dates of the program.

Residents enrolled in a concurrent master’s degree program follow a degree‑specific academic timeline, which extends beyond the 24‑month certificate program.
