The Advanced Education Program in Endodontics offers an opportunity to earn both a certificate in Endodontics and a master of science in dentistry (MSD) degree following twenty-six months of full-time academic endeavor. The graduate program accepts up to five students each year. Our application deadline for this year is July 1, 2024. Only a select number of candidates will be invited to interview. Our interview date will be Friday July 12, 2024.
The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston (UTSD) moved into our state-of-the-art building in 2012. Every resident has his/her desk and computer in addition to an operatory with a video equipped microscope, digital radiography, and all equipment available for modern endodontics.
The clinical practice aspect of the program occupies approximately 60 percent of the time, affording a broad-based clinical experience in conventional and surgical endodontic treatment, often in coordination with residents in other dental specialty programs. Joint Conferences with residents in Periodontics and Prosthodontics and joint treatment with Pediatric Dentistry residents adds to the full experience of this residency.
The remaining time is devoted to didactic study in both basic science and clinical science disciplines, practice management, and research with opportunities for clinical teaching also provided. Upon satisfactory completion of the program students receive a certificate in endodontics and an optional master of science in dentistry (MSD) degree from UTSD. The program is designed to prepare participants for certification by the American Board of Endodontics.
