The University of Washington's Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program aims to enhance professional development of recently graduated dentists through robust training and mentoring in all aspects of general dentistry. This program is designed to expand the scope and depth of the graduates’ knowledge and skills to enable them to practice advanced general dentistry.
AEGD residents will receive a certificate upon completion of our one-year program. Upon certification, trainees may pursue pathway to licensure in Washington state.
Clinical training is delivered in partnership with premier community-based health centers throughout the region, including Kaiser Permanente Dental Group and Community Health Care of Tacoma. Each training site houses a local AEGD Director and cadre of qualified preceptor faculty affiliated with University of Washington School of Dentistry.

Transcript Evaluation and Instructions
Official transcript from dental school is required.
Letters of Evaluation Instructions
We request two letters of evaluation. One letter from a clinical faculty or preceptor is preferred, and the second letter may be provided by any faculty or administrator of the applicant's dental school. For applicants not currently in dental school, a letter of support from a supervising or direct report clinical team member may be accepted in lieu of clinical faculty/preceptor letter.

We accept recently graduated (less than 3 years from graduation at time of application) or students currently enrolled at a US or Canadian Dental School, accredited by CODA. A
Applicants will be assessed for fit to program mission according to dental school performance, letters of recommendation, in-person interview outcomes, and demonstrated commitment to community and service. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the state of Washington (resident or traditional dental license) for acceptance into the program.

Interview Schedule
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Selected applicants will be invited for a personal interview. Applicants will not be considered for admission without an interview. An evaluation of all application materials and the personal interview will determine which applicants will be selected for admission to the program. Qualified applicants will be invited to interview in-person January to March of 2027.
