Program Contact
The Vanderbilt University Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical Residency Program provides the OMS trainee with a comprehensive advanced education that includes a robust foundation in medicine and surgery, providing a path to life-long professional development and learning. Our philosophy of resident education places great emphasis on resident participation in the organization and evolution of the training program. Residents play an integral role in shaping the program and enhancing both their didcatic and clinical experiences.
The Vanderbilt Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency program emphasizes early hands-on resident clinical experience. The program prepares residents for the community practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery as well as for advanced fellowship training and academic careers. Areas of clinical strength include the comprehensive management of all facets of facial trauma, benign and malignant head and neck pathology, orthognathic surgery, facial reconstruction, secondary cleft care, and dentoalveolar surgery and implants with an emphasis on implant site development. Vanderbilt OMS residents are provided numerous enrichment opportunities including, travel to CE events, AAOMS Annual meetings, and a cleft/craniofacial rotation in Bogota, Colombia.
