The program requires a minimum of 26 months of full-time residency in the School of Dentistry. It is designed to provide the education and training necessary for graduate dentists to practice in the specialty of endodontics, teach and perform research. The master of science program provides the basis for a student to achieve board certification in endodontics. A thesis leading to publishable research is required. This program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association.

The Endodontic Residency Program at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry is a highly integrated curriculum with emphasis on basic science coupled with advanced diagnostic and clinical skills. Scientific literature, research and clinical practice form the foundation for an exceptional educational program designed to develop a highly skilled specialist who is prepared to enter clinical practice or academia.

All Endodontic graduate students have their own fully equipped operatory with digital radiography, a Global microscope, modern endodontic equipment and computer equipped desk space.  In addition, the endodontic clinic is equipped with a CBCT unit specifically for use by our residents.
