Wyckoff Heights Medical Center dental anesthesiology program accepted the first group of residents in July, 2010 and by February, 2013, the program received full accreditation from the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).  This 36 month training program is currently accepting two residents per year.  Residents are fully integrated into the operating room activities of the Medical Center’s Department of Anesthesiology, and provide the full spectrum of anesthesia care. They also actively participate in the administration of intravenous sedation to patients treated within the Department of Dental Medicine.

In addition to the presence of a long-standing general practice residency, the strength of the training program has been enhanced by the addition of a 24-month residency in pediatric dentistry.  Together, these two programs provide a challenging and diverse clinical experience in dental anesthesiology that will include management of the pediatric, oral surgical as well as intellectually and developmentally disabled patient.

The residents also participate in several off-service rotations ( Internal Medicine, Pediatric Medicine, Cardiology, Intensive Care Medicine) as well as lectures and journal clubs.  We encourage residents to participate in scholarly research activities that can contribute to the scientific literature and engage in poster presentations at regional and national meetings.

The program prefers candidates to completed a CODA-approved, one year post-doctoral training program prior to matriculation (this is not a requierment).  In support of the application, applicants must submit the following: three (3) Professional Evaluation Forms, one of which should come from a dental school faculty member and another from the residency program director.  In addition, applicants must submit their NDBE scores, a 2" X 2" photograph.   All items should be sent directly to:
